Our Mission and Vision
The Truckstop Ministry, a branch of Old 54 Ministries, is dedicated to reaching truck drivers with the message of hope and salvation. Our mission is to transform truck stops into places of spiritual renewal, offering drivers a chance to connect with faith on their journeys. We envision a network of local ministries trained to engage and support drivers, fostering a community of believers on the road.
In May 2025, I had the privilege to meet Guy Thomas at the Kenly 95 Petro truck stop in Kenly, NC. In early May of each year the truck stop hosts the East Coast Trucker Jamboree with truckers from all across the USA that come to showcase their trucks. Trucks that in most cases are driven daily to transport goods across the country. It’s just that these drivers spend every dime and dollar to dress up their trucks.
Truckstop Ministries has been operating there for over 34 years and Guy is also a part of TMI in Kingdom City, MO. Guy was contacted by Bill Blackmon, President of Truckstop Ministries, Inc and asked if he would come to the truck show in Kenly and bring his game he designed and built, “Test your Trucker Knowledge.” The game is designed to do just that, Test a Trucker’s Knowledge, from simple questions to some a little more challenging. There are 12 different questions with 3 possible answers connected to toggle switches to turn on or off. Each toggle is connected to a Right or Wrong answer panel at the top with lights and buzzers that go off according to your answer. The game is an awesome tool that gets the attention of those all around the booth or walking by in the isle way. Once the individual has completed all 12 questions it gives Guy or other members of Truckstop Ministries to present that person with a prize and opens the door to ask him or her about their relationship with Jesus Christ. During the 3 days we worked together we had several people invited Jesus into their lives.
Each person that came to our booth we asked them for their first name and if there was a special need in their life that was listed on a pad. We then asked if we could pray with them about their response. Almost no one refused prayer and in some cases, that was all they needed to turn their life over to Jesus. Someone to show that they cared and to take the time to listen to them.
Guy is a sincere man of God with a heartfelt desire to win the lost to Jesus Christ. It was such a blessing to be able to work with Guy those few days and to give me a new perspective on reaching the lost for Christ. God Bless you Guy in all that you do for His Glory!!
